Small, fuel-efficient vehicles may not be sufficient to contain the luggage needed for a family holiday, according to a provider of personal loans.
AA Personal Loans suggested that the rising number of environmentally-conscious Britons who are choosing to take a driving holiday to keep a watchful eye on their carbon footprint may encounter this "basic problem".
Indeed, research from the personal loan provider found that 12 per cent of families intend to take their dog on a driving holiday, while four per cent will travel in the family vehicle.
Lloyd East, director of AA Personal Loans, said that Brits' desire to be green may mean that they need to fit a roof rack or trailer in order to carry the necessary luggage.
He also queried: "But if driving holidays face a renaissance then this could influence future car buying decisions - for instance, will estate car sales increase?"
AA Personal Loans enables customers to take out up to £25,000 - a sum which could be used to purchase a new vehicle or take a holiday overseas.
